POSITION SUMMARY

This position is directly responsible for managing, directing, and planning all clinical functions of the delivery of patient care within the Medical / Surgical areas, including Med-Surg Units, Clinical Decision Unit (CDU), and assistance for Senior Speciality Unit. The incumbent maintains 24-hour responsibility for all aspects of clinical care in these areas including assisting the director in staff evaluation, maintaining financial compliance, record-keeping and assisting with reporting and monitoring all quality initiatives. This position is also responsible for identifying, assessing, and evaluating on-going development and measurement of staff competencies. This position functions in office and clinical environments with the potential for exposure to radiation, blood borne and/or airborne pathogens. Administrative activity consumes about 25% of total work time and is spent sitting with frequent standing and walking of short distances, as well as occasional bending, reaching, pushing/pulling of up to 20 lbs. Clinical interaction consumes up to 75% of work time with the majority of that time spent standing and walking long and short distances with frequent reaching, bending, and pushing/pulling of up to 100 lbs during the provision of patient care. Standard work week is Monday through Friday days with occasional rotation to all shifts and days of the week to maintain relationships and clinical standards.


LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED RN eligible to work in the state of Arkansas


DESCRIBE THE SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL AND SKILL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION
Exemplary communication skills, the ability to direct and motivate subordinate personnel, and familiarity with all aspects of Medical/Surgical Services provided in an acute-care hospital setting. A BSN is required, with master's level education preferred. The applicant must have at least five years of experience in an acute care setting. In addition, a minimum of five years recent management experience is required, preferably in Medical/Surgical services.
