  POSITION SUMMARY (include other positions that report to this position)

This position is responsible for, while working independently, the coordination of the patient's care plan with physicians and ancillary departments.  Completes discharge planning and/or utilization review function for assigned units.  This position primarily functions in a nursing clinical setting, with exposure to communicable disease and body fluids.  Majority of time is spent sitting (up to 60% of work time) with frequent standing and walking of short distances required (up to 40% of work time.)  This position frequently required to lift and carry objects weighing up to 10 lb. (up to 20% of work time.)

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Arkansas RN License, Certification Preferred

DESCRIBE THE SPECIFIC  EDUCATIONAL AND SKILL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION.

This position requires good knowledge of third party payer guidelines regarding reimbursement as normally acquired through a minimum of one year of case management/UR experience.  Good clinical skills needed to effectively interact with all levels of health care providers. A minimum of three years nursing experience required.  Good written and verbal communication skills a must.   Computer skills (Windows applications) and the ability to operate standard office equipment required.  Knowledge of "severity of illness" and "intensity of service" criteria (i.e., InterQual) is needed.
