Admits patient to perioperative setting, develops a plan of care for the patient based on assessment data, and implements admission care. Responsible for conducting preoperative testing and patient counseling. Performs nursing care for the patient in the immediate postoperative/postanesthesia period, assessing and documenting patient's status upon arrival in the recovery room. Provides nursing care to meet patient needs related to surgical condition and type of anesthesia administered, monitoring patient and informing surgeon or anesthetist of observed complications. Supervises and directs patient care in an Endoscopy room. Responsible for administering IV conscious sedation during procedures. Responsible for monitoring the patient's condition and vital signs. This position has exposure to body fluids, radiation and communicable disease. Majority of time is spent standing and/or walking short distances (60%). Frequent pulling and pushing of up to 300lbs. (using stretchers) Carrying of up to 50 lbs., lifting of up to 100lbs, pulling up to 300lbs (with assistance) (up to 40%) of work time. A good working knowledge of nursing practice is required. This is usually demonstrated by: successful completion of a registered nursing program and AR licensure as a Registered Nurse. BCLS required. Preference will be given to applicants who have also completed the requirements of ACLS, PALS as well as Pre and post operative experience. CPAP is encouraged.
