POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for assisting the director with hiring, orienting, evaluating, and supervising the Medical and Surgical Units' staff. The Assistant Director assists the director in establishing and maintaining unit policies and procedures and in achieving unit budgetary goals. In addition, this position is responsible for coordinating the care of assigned patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation. This position directly supervises the job classes of RN, LPN, Student Nurse Tech, Nursing Assistant, and Unit Secretary. This position has frequent exposure to body fluids, radiation, and communicable disease. The majority of time is spent standing and/or walking of short distances, with frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 100 lbs., and occasional carrying of up to 25 lbs. A variety of patient age groups is served, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, with the majority of patients being adults and geriatrics LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED Arkansas RN license, CPR DESCRIBE THE SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL AND SKILL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION A good working knowledge of critical care practices and advanced decision-making skills as usually demonstrated by a minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience. Completion of CPR required. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively. |
